Safe Work Practices for House Construction
This publication by the Saskatchewan Construction Safety Association was originally developed by the Workers Compensation Board of British Columbia and modified where necessary to be applicable to Saskatchewan legislation and regulations.
This manual was developed for home builders, framers, scaffold users, various trades and home owners. Its purpose is to provide general information on the safety requirements for various phases of house construction. It is to be used as a tool to help workers and employers in the home building industry understand how to develop, maintain and enforce safe work practices and procedures in compliance with the Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Course Information Package
The information package provides a comprehensive view of the SCSA's mandate, mission and membership. The package also provides information on the courses and programs offered by the association as well as a price list and schedule for each. Safety Training courses include safety management, leadership for safety excellence, WHMIS, Auditor Training, Claims Management, Confined Space Entry/Respiratory Protection, Construction Safety Training System, Contractor, First Aid & CPR, Frame Scaffolding, Safety Administration, Small Business Safety Management and Transportation of Dangerous Goods. SCSA also offers the following training programs: Certificate of Recognition Program, Construction Safety Officer Program and Small Business Safety Certificate Program. Also included in the information package is an outline of the specialty classes offered by SCSA including H 2 S Alive and Portable Fire Extinguisher.
Certificate of Recognition Information Package
This package provides information on the program, requirements to participate and the benefits to employers. The course information included in this package are Safety Management, Safety Auditor Training, Leadership for Safety Excellence and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System Train the Trainer.
Construction Safety Officer (CSO) Program- National Standard
This package provides information on the CSO Certification elements, the steps required to participate, the benefits of a CSO designation and a course outline showing compulsory courses, electives and descriptions for each.
Construction Safety Training System Information Package
This package provides information on the purpose and advantages of the program as well as the requirements to participate. The package goes on to discuss the lessons and topics which will be covered and the certification that will result upon completion of the program. Also included are the results to a survey conducted in Alberta which shows the success CSTS training has had in that province.
The Safety Advocate
The Safety Advocate is a publication of the SCSA. It provides relevant information and stories on safety issues in Saskatchewan . It also highlights industry achievements and provides up to date course schedules for the SCSA.
Safety Now
This pamphlet outlines the 2006 Safety Program Implementation Schedule as set up by the Saskatoon & Region Home Builders' Association Safety Task Force. The pamphlet also discusses the requirements and benefits of the Certificate of Recognition program.
Small Business Safety Certificate Information Package
This package provides information on the program, the requirements to participate and benefits to employers. The course information included in this package are Small Business Safety Management, Construction Safety Training System and First Aid-CPR.
